Velvet That Shapes Itself So You Don't Have To
Same jeans. Same tee. Different woman walking in.
This velvet blazer turns a plain outfit into one that looks planned — without you changing a thing underneath.

The contrast trim runs the lapel, cuffs and front edge, doing the shaping a stiff suit shoulder normally does.
So the velvet stays soft against you.
And you look expensive, not overdressed.
Length Runs 25.5 to 27.5 Inches — It Covers the Hip, Not the Thigh
✓ Turns basic into intentional in 5 seconds
Slip it over the jeans and tee you already have on. One piece, and the whole outfit reads planned.

✓ Structure without the stiff suit feeling
The contrast piping does the tailoring work at the lapel and cuffs. No padding, no rigid seams pressing into your shoulders.

✓ Velvet that looks like you spent more
Soft polyester velvet with a gentle sheen, not a shiny flash. It catches light the way good fabric does.

✓ Soft shoulders, drapey body, easy shape
The velvet falls instead of clinging. It skims the middle rather than pulling across it.

✓ One jacket for the in-between nights
Dinner out, a work event, a holiday party. It sits right between a cardigan and a suit jacket, where nothing else in your closet does.

Frequently asked questions
Does the velvet crush or flatten where I sit?
Polyester velvet holds its pile better than cotton velvet. Light creases from sitting relax on their own once the jacket hangs.
Can I wear it with the sleeves pushed up?
Yes. The contrast trim at the cuff actually looks good folded back, so pushing the sleeves up reads intentional rather than messy.
Will the trim fade or bleed into the velvet in the wash?
No. Wash it cold and separately the first time or two, and the contrast color stays clean against the velvet.
Is it warm enough to wear as a jacket on its own?
It works as a light layer indoors or on mild evenings. In cold weather, treat it as a jacket you wear under a coat.

Use the fit finder next to the size selector for a recommendation in a few seconds, or see the full measurement charts below.
Every product page has a fit finder next to the size selector — three questions, one recommendation, a few seconds. These charts are for anyone who would rather read the numbers.
How to measure
- Bust / chest. Around the fullest part, tape level, arms relaxed at your sides.
- Waist. Around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel.
- Hips. Around the fullest part, roughly 8 in below the waist.
- Inseam. From the crotch seam to the floor, in the shoes you'll wear the trousers with.
Measure over the underwear you'd normally wear, not over clothing. Keep the tape snug but not tight.

How our pieces are cut
- Dresses are cut true to size. If you are between sizes, take the smaller one — most of our dresses have ease through the waist.
- Coats and jackets are cut with room for a knit underneath. Take your usual size; size up only if you layer heavily.
- Knitwear is relaxed by design. Between sizes, take the smaller one unless you want an oversized look.
- Trousers and jeans run true to size. Between sizes, take the larger one.
- Shoes run true to size. If you have a wide foot, take half a size up.
Still not sure?
Write to info@halstead.com with your usual size, your height and the piece you're looking at. We'll tell you what we would pick — usually within a few hours. We would far rather get it right the first time than process a return.
We work in natural fibres — wool, cashmere, cotton, linen and full-grain leather.
Knitwear: cold hand wash or a wool cycle at 30 °C, no softener, dried flat and stored folded.
Coats: dry clean once or twice a season, stored on a broad wooden hanger.
Leather: wipe with a damp cloth, condition twice a year, never dry near heat.
