What the cold months ask for

Halstead Point
Built once, properly
Our first workroom was a converted sail loft on the Elizabeth River, a short walk from the bend where Chesapeake watermen tied up their skipjacks when the weather turned.
We started with coats, because a coat is the hardest thing to get right and the easiest thing to keep. Sailcloth taught us what a seam has to survive. Everything else followed from there.

Wool that earns its keep
We work in wool, cashmere, cotton, linen and full-grain leather — fibres that behave better after five years than they did in the first month.
Every coat is checked on the form before it leaves us: shoulder line, seam allowance, the way the collar sits when it is turned up.
