Frequently asked questions
Can I leave these out all season?
Yes. There's no flame and no wax, so they can stay on the mantel or table from the first week of December through New Year's. Just switch them off when you go to bed.
Will the painted finish chip if I pack them away?
The motifs are painted onto solid resin, which is much sturdier than wax. Wrap each one in tissue or a soft cloth in your storage bin and they'll come out the same next year.
Can I use them outside on a porch or in a window?
Keep them in a covered spot. They do beautifully in a windowsill or on a sheltered porch, but they aren't built for rain or snow directly on them.
Do the two sizes come together or separately?
They're offered as separate sizes so you can build the grouping you want. Most people mix a tall and a short for a layered look on a mantel.

How to measure
- Bust / chest. Around the fullest part, tape level, arms relaxed at your sides.
- Waist. Around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel.
- Hips. Around the fullest part, roughly 8 in below the waist.
- Inseam. From the crotch seam to the floor, in the shoes you'll wear the trousers with.
Measure over the underwear you'd normally wear, not over clothing. Keep the tape snug but not tight.

How our pieces are cut
- Dresses are cut true to size. If you are between sizes, take the smaller one — most of our dresses have ease through the waist.
- Coats and jackets are cut with room for a knit underneath. Take your usual size; size up only if you layer heavily.
- Knitwear is relaxed by design. Between sizes, take the smaller one unless you want an oversized look.
- Trousers and jeans run true to size. Between sizes, take the larger one.
- Shoes run true to size. If you have a wide foot, take half a size up.

We work in natural fibres — wool, cashmere, cotton, linen and full-grain leather.
Knitwear: cold hand wash or a wool cycle at 30 °C, no softener, dried flat and stored folded.
Coats: dry clean once or twice a season, stored on a broad wooden hanger.
Leather: wipe with a damp cloth, condition twice a year, never dry near heat.
